My car’s center console is littered with DC adapters, iPod to DVD player. Getting another one for my Apple G4 just did not excite me. Then, one day riding in a car with my colleague, he asked me about some contact information I had just shown him on my Apple. But my battery drained and the laptop shut down, already.  Well, we pulled up to a gas station and I thought I can charge up my battery for a few minutes just to pull out those contacts he wanted. There were no AC outlets on the outside of the gas station. I went inside to locate an AC outlet. I found one near the frig area and plugged in my adapter. After 10 minutes standing there, I waved my colleague to come over to watch my laptop while I needed to go to the restroom. He was walking toward me so I thought he understood. I took off for the restroom. When I came out, I found my colleague in the car. I got in and we headed back onto the freeway. 30 minutes later, he asked about the contact information again. I asked him, did he pick up my Apple that was charging near the frig area. He said, “Where?”. Oh, boy! I panicked! I freaked out. I screamed at my colleague, that I waved him over. He said, “yes” but he thought I wanted him to buy a diet coke for him from the frig. Now we are about 45 miles away from the gas station. I was just imagining someone had just picked up my Apple and walked out. All the way back to the gas station, I was trying to catch the faces of all the drivers traveling in the opposite direction of the freeway that might be the thief who took my Apple. There was a couple. No. They don’t look happy. A single guy. No. He is too concentrating on his driving. Another couple, a family, an older couple, some bunch of young kids, one by one, I sharpen my focus  on them like a camera lens zooming in and taking mental snapshots. I got part of the license plate of those young kids. When we got to the gas station, I braced myself of the inevitable bad news. When we approached the counter and asked the attendant, he said “What Apple?” He shown no knowledge about a laptop or anything turned in that someone might have left behind. I asked him about some of the people I spotted that might have come in to the gas station 60 minutes ago. He just offered “No”, “No” and “No”. I was devastated and exhausted in asking him questions. He just then voluntarily pulls out the Apple. He was reluctant to let me touch it. He said to me “prove it” I could only think about the contact information that was uniquely known to me. I mention to him the name Tokast, Bealquat and Palinmo. He and I checked out those names in my contact folder. He handed over my Apple and said a bunch of kids brought it over from the frig area. Wow, my feeling of suspicion against those kids just got deflated. I got part of their license plate. If ever I see a blue Honda  Rav4 with partial License number 5JES0xx or 5JES8xx, I will be sure to introduce myself and offer something for their honesty. Another lesson learned from this experience is that having an Auto DC adapter available to power my Apple has become a necessity and not just a luxury to get out of tight situations. My colleague told me he purchased one online at a great price. It’s well worth the investment versus what I did in trying to borrow charging power from a gas station.

Well today is the day that Apple and Jobs blessed us with the iPad. Personally it’s exactly what I thought it’d be practically a modified iTouch, I’m actually gonna wait until the next generation to pick an Apple iPad up. I want to see one with a microphone, multitasking, USB and a camera before I’ll make the jump. I especially think that multitasking is the most important feature it is missing. What do you guys think?
