Ultrasonic Laser Point Distance Measure Meter allows you to measure, store and calculate the distance. Press READ to turn on the unit, the laser point light on, the distance between the laser distance measure and the target apears. This laser distance meter allows you to store 3 different measures. This function is useful if you want to measure the length, the width and the height of a room. To find the area and volume of a room, measure the length and press X/=, measure the width, then press X/=, then the square icon and the data of area appears, measure the height and press X/= the cubic icon and the data of volume appears. The initial unit is Meter, hold the SET key 3 second, the unit can switch between Meter and Foot. The laser distance meter turns itself off if no key is pressed within about 30 seconds.

Taking triangulate (indirect) measurements.


For situation where you can not be at one end of the location, use the triangulate method of measurement. Simply, you can stand at the sidewalk, aim at the corner of the house and determine the distance between you and the corner. Take the second measurement the distance between you and the other side of the corner. Then, calculate the third side of the triangle and you have the distance between the two corners. While this is not as accurate as measuring directly from one end of the corner to the other, when properly utilized it provides a very good estimate, and can also be used to determine heights of buildings.

How Square and Parallel


Most laser distance meters will perform a continuous measurements, (the distance displayed changes as you move the dot) and display the maximum and minimum distance measured while in this mode. This allows the user to stand in one corner of a room, scan the dot diagonally across the opposite corner and observe the largest measurement. Comparing the two diagonal measurements in a room determines how square that room is. Comparing the minimum distances obtained when scanning two parallel walls at several points will give the user a measure of how parallel the two walls are.

Determine square footage and volume.


Most Laser Distance Meters include automatic calculation of square footage and volume. The user simply inputs the width, length, and height if required, and the device calculates and displays the square or cubic footage, as requested. What laser measuring device is right for me?

What specifications should I look for?


Range: Distance is stated by the manufacture in feet or meters. It is usually the maximum distance the unit will measure under ideal conditions to a reflective target. Ranges for devices currently on the market vary from 20 feet to100 feet to 600 feet. Manufacturers do not normally specify the range without a reflective target plate, which varies according to the conditions. Practical range without a target plate is 50 feet on some older or less expensive models

Accuracy: Accuracy is the degree of conformity of a measured or calculated value to its actual or specified value, or the maximum amount of deviation of the measured value from the actual physical length of the item being measured. Most true laser devices are accurate within +/- 0.5%
