Good habits for extending your PDA phone battery life
Call it what you want: A Smart phone, PDA or an iPhone. They all have one thing in common: the need to extend the phone's battery life to allow for more important calls and Internet downloads.
Imagine having an important conversation with your wife, doctor, lawyer, investor or customer, and you suddenly see a message that your PDA phone battery is alarmingly low. This can make your heart pound and throw you into a tail-spin as you quickly try to wrap up your call. It sends you into double-jeopardy on the other end of the call. It's frustrating and risky when your call is dropped during a conversation; the person on the other end of the line may not know what happened and may jump to a wrong conclusion. That's especially bad if it's a business associate.
This is a ‘typical’ versus ‘atypical’ phenomenon in the daily lives of Americans. There are lots of people trying to figure out ways to extend their PDA or cell phone's battery life to avoid any hassles, embarrassment and risks in a drop-call.
The most common mistake most people make is overcharging their battery. That's called the “More is better” theory. In reality, the best practice is to charge the battery when a low battery message appears on the phone. That reduces the risk of overcharging the battery which reduces its life expectancy.
An obvious, but often overlooked, practice for extending your battery's life is cleaning it. To do this, open the phone cover and gently wipe away any accumulated dust or dirt around the terminal area where the battery makes contact with the phone circuitry. Clean connections mean the phone operates more efficiently and will put less strain on the battery.
Choose a simple ringtone as it helps your PDA phone battery last longer by shorter drain. A longer and complicated ringtone consumes lot of your battery life. Although you might end up impressing some people, you may not want to do this at the expense of your battery life. Choose a ringtone with a lower volume. This also saves your battery life as well. People around you in tight quarters will appreciate it too.
Of course, using the phone for extra activities like games, music or unnecessary sounds will drain your battery more quickly. Refrain from doing this. Keeping your PDA phone keypad locked can help eliminate unintentional activities. Following these steps can save an amazing amount of energy from your battery. Of course, the choice is yours: phone longevity or entertainment.
Another energy-saving tip is to turn Bluetooth and Internet applications on your phone off when you're not using them.
Last of all, choose a good, higher capacity PDA phone battery. Not all batteries come from the same “mold” or construction quality. Always choose a brand-new battery. If possible, ask the supplier or retailer for the for the manufacture date of the battery. Ninety percent of retailers likely won't be able to tell you a battery's manufacture date, but they probably can tell you its shipping date, which is probably close to the manufacture date.
